I purchased a old Wurlitzer Melodie trombone at a flea market. I got it mainly for the novelty and price. It's not a standard trombone. It's roughly Bb trumpet length and made in czechoskvakia. There's a rotorary valve with an internal stop on the back bearing and it marked outside with a Bb and C position. Nor evidence of a lever maechanism like modern trombones.

Shouldn't a venturi tube be needed in the inner slide? There's no trace of one now, but it's old and been "worked on" before. The inner slide tube seems like it could use a trumpet or maybe a cornet shank mouthpiece. Might be able to make a venturi out of a trumpet mouth pipe and cornet size receiver?

Any other ideas?

If a mouthpiece--probably a trumpet mouthpiece--fits the receiver without any wobble, if probably didn't have a separate one, but it's built into the receiver. Although it's possible that it may have used something besides our current mouthpiece shanks.

Could it be a slide trumpet?
