R8 collets with a quick close lever works very well. If a smaller size
is needed than a second collet is needed to maintain the shape as best
as possible.
David Straubinger used that in his shop and I was very impressed with the results, not to mention the consistancy.

We have a draw plate, I just tap the business end of the grommet into the plate a bit. Easy does it, because it is easy to go too far.
