Does anyone have/publish any small simple books that describe how band
instruments work, something written for music educators?
A book that desricbes what key does what. Teachers usually get some info
from there method books, but sometimes want some more.
I was asked recently about it, have not searched to much on the web yet for
anything. Thought I would ask the members here.

There's a series of books published by Summy-Birchard called "The Art of..." There's one for bassoon, oboe, flute, trombone and probably others.
They contain a lot of practical information for the advanced student or instructor. It may be along the lines you want.

Good suggestion Bob. They are excellent books. I remember reading the one on saxophone many times in high school.
Ryan - As far as finding a reference for "what key does what"....are you looking for an advanced fingering chart? Or are you looking more for how each key interacts with the other keys during adjustment and regulation of the instrument?
Thanks, Michelle

I am looking for more for key interaction and what key does what. Fingering charts would be an added bonus. There are indivdual ones for each instrument out there. I was looking for one that would cover all band instruments.
I quickly looked through publications by MENC to see if they had a tittle one that jumped out at me. A small text/guide.
