I'm interested to find out what brand/type of saxophone pads you're all using for professional level work on modern saxophones.
Thanks,
Marco

I've been using the premium pads from J.L. Smith. They're pretty firm, so you have to get the mechanism tight, but the seem to stay put and last well. They also work well on old Bueschers with snap on pads if you punch out the center and put a thin bed of glue under them.

Thanks Bob,
as it happens, the premium J.L. Smith pads were next on my list to try and I just received some of them. They seem to be very consistent and have a high quality leather, so I'll probably start using these in many situations.
I have been using the thin pads from Ferree's, which are pretty good, but a little on the soft side - good for student work though. The J.L. Smith (Valentino) pads will be a better match for newer Selmer Paris horns and such.
Thanks for the info,
Marco
