Help me please! The tag on a Bundy Clarinet, in for repair, said "replace missing cork" The only "missing cork" appeared to be the center tenon. But on this clarinet there didnt seem to be any place for a cork to go. There is no cork channel. There was a hole thru the tenon to line up with a tone hole on the other section. A key post protrudes slightly into the tenon receiver and there is a slight indent in the tenon to accomodate this protrusion. The joint is a very tight fit with no cork. What is going on here???

NOw I feel really stupid. After staring at the clarinet for a while I finally realized that the center tenon was stuck so tightly in the receiver that when the student attempted to disassemble the instrument he or she actually pulled the other end of the tenon out of the instrument fracturing the glue joint

David,

They're not made that way. That clarinet has had the center tenon replaced. You should be able to reglue the tenon if everything is intact.
