Hello,I'm a repair technician from argentina, I'm look for a lacquer stripping formula. The commercial products are very expensive in my country and poor for stripping epoxie and urethane.For that I look for a home made formula.
Can somebody help me?.

I've heard of people using lye and hot water (really hot). Have not tried it myself though.

Leaving it in an ultrasonic machine too long will do the job nicely too.

We have used hot lye solution for years to strip lacquer. Unfortunately, it does not work well on epoxy lacquer. We have the solution mixed up in a 25 gallon barrel, sitting on top of a big burner, like the ones used for turkey fryers, but stronger.

Um, a note of advice. Don't ever accidentally drop the lighter you used to light the gas burner down into the hot tank. If you do, the lighter will fall to the bottom, heat up, explode, and blow out the bottom of the tank, spreading hot lye solution all over your shop.
