Does anyone know if Conn-Selmer switched the type of lacquer they were using in the last year or two?
Our instructor had two trombones brought to him recently that the lacquer had disappeared/worn off, on horns that were sold recently, like in the past year or so.
Spots showing on the tuning slide crook, and then up by the cork barrel was worn away. When we sprayed new lacquer on, bubbles formed along the old lacquer.

Which trombone model were they? Anything is possible, but in my experience with the Prelude line (their low, low price alternative, $250ish for a trombone I think), the lacquer isn't the greatest or longest-lasting around. C-S imports several horns in addition to the US-made Holton, Bach, Conn, and King models, so the horns could be from anywhere.

The Bach was a model 42 with a Thayer Valve. Not sure what model the Conn was.
