Many techs are using the magnehelic (essentially a leakdown tester) on woodwinds to gauge the tightness of an instrument, isolate leaks, etc.
Anybody using them to measure the leakdown rate of brasswind instruments? Anybody have a feel for what is an acceptable leak rate for a trumpet, trombone slide, etc. ?
I've checked trumpet this way occasionally and seen numbers range from better than flutes to what would be unplayableon a flute. I'd be interested in hearing about any correlation between the leak rate and playability.

Anybody have simple plans for making a "Magnehelic?" From what I've seen, they appear to be a type of manometer.
