Hello, all. My wife and I finally opened our own repair shop after
getting tired of working for others.

We work full-time in the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, me (tuba)
since 1993 and Scottye (French horn) since 1998. I started repair
work as a full-time gig in 1995. She started somewhat later.

We both love fixing and adjusting musical instruments and are now
trying to add in the instruments for which we are not trained,
attempting to become very good at double reeds, particularly.

We also have some shiny, new tooling that we are learning to use on
some lucky, beater instruments that will get sold after we have
learned from them as much as we can.

Things are going very well.

(The owner of the shop where we used to work had an excellent
tooling setup, but he stopped updating that tooling sometime in the
late 1970s, so there have been improvements, time-savers and
additions that we must now learn on our own.)

We are looking forward to increasing our knowledge via the forums
here while making new friends and contacts.
