Is there anyone that sells a head cork that fits alto flutes or is it that you must sand down a bass head cork all the time. And if you are stuck sanding a bass cork, does anyone have suggestions for getting it even so the hole does not get off center when turning it on a lathe.

I don't know of any alto head corks. I just sanded down the bass.
I'll put the cork on the rod assembly, chuck the rod (lightly) in the bench motor and sand away with mesh. This will keep the cork diameter concentric with the hole.
Hope this helps.

P.S. Good to see you here!

Good thought. I'm guessing I sand to forcefully, wanting to get it done quickly, and so that warps it. Thanks

Use the mesh instead of regular sand paper. It sands with light pressure. Let me know if you want the supplier for the mesh and I'll dig it up.
Also use a high speed if on a lathe. I use a bench motor at 1725 RPM and it goes rather quickly.

Perhaps ordering from an alto flute maker would get a cork that was sized more appropriately. Size may vary by maker, but I think I'll get a few from Jupiter next time I order.
