I have a client who has just purchased an antique soprano Sax(Weitlang Soloist). The instrument has no front F key. The client would like to investigate the installation of this key. Does anyone have experience with this? If so how was it accomplished?

Hi Dave,
Jeff Smith sells the Oleg high F key fork extension. Maybe this will work for you. See page 83 of their pdf catalog - www.jlsmithco.com/pdf/JLS_Catalog_2006.pdf

I think the Oleg extension attaches to an existing front F to make it easier to reach.
It would be possible to add a front F, but without seeing the horn, I'm not sure of the best approach. In any event, it could be a little tricky on a soprano due the size, but I would imagine $200-400 would be a realistic price range. The lower figure if existing parts from another brand can be adapted. The higher one of everything has to be fabricated.
I'm not sure that I'd spend the money on a Weitlang.
