Yes,
I bought the first network compatible version, and have used it ever since.

To Joe B.
Is it fairly user friendly? How much valuable bench time
do you spend entering information and/or tracking already entered
instruments?
I've been trying to get my boss to get something so I'm not checking old repair logs for an instruments repair history.

We used Shop Tracker when I first came here. I found it very user
friendly but it had some problems internally when we used it here.
Sometimes tickets would get mixed together - that is notes and work
from one would appear on another. It didn't happen too often and I
think it may have had something to do with the fact that we used it so
much - lots of tickets entered.
We don't use it now and there
may be some updates that have fixed the problem. We now use a program
that is a part of the entire store system.

Yes, it is very user
friendly. I don't use the inventory feature which is too complicated
IMO, but the rest is very easy to use. I also had the same problem
initially with some records getting mixed from entries being open at
various stations but, haven't had that problem lately. I ran a fix from
Microsoft for another problem (a Fox pro patch to work on faster puters
available online) and haven't seemed to have had that problem since.

Hi Jere,
I had looked at ShopTracker 4 or 5 years ago but
couldn't get a reply by phone or email for any of my pre-sales
questions. I think it has since changed hands so that may not be a
problem any more.
So instead, I weighed Quickbooks and
Peachtree - two of the most popular accounting programs - and I decided
on Quickbooks Pro. It is totally customizable. And although it takes a
little time to set it up for a repair shop's purposes, it does
everything I need and more. The main books and program help files are
very easy to understand and walk you through step by step.
The
other plus is that all I have to do for taxes every spring is to send a
single Quickbooks file and the paperwork I get in the mail over to my
accountant and she takes everything from there.
This is a very
important part of your business. If you take the time to set this up
from the beginning it will save all kinds of headaches down the road.
Good luck.
Michelle

I've been using STPro
for about 5 years now. It's very easy to use and I have not had any of
the problems that others are reporting. I also use QuickBooksPro for my
accounting. I just print out invoices everymonth and enter the totals
into Quick Books. I'd be interested in hearing how I can make
Quickbooks do what Shoptracker does as far as keeping track of
instrument repair details and quickly detailing a repair.
