The embouchure (or lip) plate is easy to remove for dent repair on the joint, but tricky to re-solder properly. Does anyone have suggestions or a favorite method to accomplish this?

Hi Phil,
Are you familiar with the solder tape from J.L. Smith? It makes it super easy to keep things lined up while you solder. See page 52 of their catalog.
Hope this helps, Michelle

Hi Michelle: Yup the tape looks like it should do the trick. Have you used it? Does it have some elasticity to insure constant pressure as the solder melts? In any case I'll order some asap. Thanks, Phil

I've used the wider orange tape that sticks to itself. I have not yet tried the thinner brownish tape. The orange stuff works well...you just have to be careful where you aim the torch. The tape will melt from a direct flame.

Yup. It is very elastic and holds stuff in place better than any clamp or binding wire I've tried.
